The conveyancing process

Thank you for completing all of your initial documentation and ID checks. Your file is now with your conveyancer.

The first thing they will do is get in touch with the other party’s solicitor to ensure that the necessary information is available to be able to write contracts between both parties. This information will include:

• fixtures and fittings information
• property contents information
• an energy performance certificate
• the boundaries of the property
• any restrictions on the property

If you are buying

We will now order the searches for the property you are buying. All mortgage lenders will require searches to be done. The search process can take time to obtain information from third parties. However, we highly suggest that you have a mortgage offer (if required) and a home insurance quote ready.
