Further expansion for Chesterfield Care Proceedings team
Banner Jones has further expanded its Care Proceedings team with the appointment of experienced Senior Solicitor, Jason Burnett.
The move comes amidst growing demand for legal representation for parents and children, as well as grandparents and foster parents involved in care proceedings, including support and guidance throughout the care proceeding's process.
Jason returns to private practice following a period as in house counsel with a specialist laboratory that conducts drugs and alcohol testing for the Family Court.
An accredited member of the Law Society’s Children Panel - a recognised quality standard for practitioners representing children in children law proceedings which means his skills, knowledge and experience have been rigorously and independently assessed - he brings more than 15 years specialist experience to the role.
Having previously practised as a Child Care solicitor in the East Midlands, Jason will be based at the Banner Jones offices in Chesterfield and Mansfield, which provide representation to families and children facing proceedings and investigation by Social Care and Children’s Services throughout Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Jason has a strong forensic approach to his work and an interest in helping families where there are allegations of substance misuse, non-accidental injury and mental health difficulties.
He joins the firm’s 7-strong Care Proceedings Team, which is recognised by the industry directory, the Legal 500, for its management of a complex care proceedings, including matters involving identification of a parent outside jurisdiction.
Based in Chesterfield, and representing clients across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, Jason has been welcomed by Head of Child Care Law Vince Beckworth, who said his expertise and passion for helping clients would ‘further strengthen’ the team’s existing offering.
