The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has announced that from 8th April 2025, 171 court and tribunal fees will increase. Parliamentary approval was sought for the increased fees, and has now been granted. This means that the increased fees are now in place.
The majority of the 171 fees have increased by 3.2% to reflect the changes to the Consumer Price Index (CPI) between March 2023 and March 2024, with a small number of fees increased by 13.5% to reflect backdated inflation to March 2022.
The MOJ has decided to increase these court fees so as to produce additional funding for His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS). This additional funding is much needed, and will go towards improving service delivery, subsidising the cost of related court and tribunal services for which HMCTS do not charge a fee, and reducing the overall cost to the taxpayer.

Please do note that if you have already made an application to Court and paid a court fee for that application, you do not need to pay an additional court fee. The new fees apply only to new applications made on or after the 8th April 2025.
